Protecting Our Playground
No matter your age, there are very few things as enjoyable as getting outside to play. The outdoor places that we spend our time help us stay happy and healthy! Whether you're at your local beach, clearing your head among the trees on a favourite hike or getting that adrenaline rush bombing down a mountainside, these places deserve our respect, gratitude and effort to keep them healthy.
One of the ways the Freshfield is ensuring that our great outdoors are protected is through our partnership with rePurpose Global, the world's first plastic credit platform dedicated to reducing waste, reviving lives and restoring nature's balance.
We work closely with rePurpose to calculate our plastic usage and, with their help, fund the ethical recovery and processing of double the amount of plastic.
Our Plastic Negative Certification Process
-
Step 1: Measure
Freshfield works with rePurpose to quantify the plastic footprint per product line, based on the plastic content of our product packaging.
-
Step 2: Compensate
Low-value plastic is collected, processed and reused by Saahas Zero Waste - a waste management service in India that employs and empowers waste pickers to tackle plastic waste.
-
Step 3: Impact
Freshfield's Plastic Negative proceeds enable rePurpose Global to facilitate investment in sustainable recovery and recycling infrastructure, in collaboration with Saahas Zero Waste in Bangalore, guaranteeing removal of double as much plastic from the environment as was generated through Freshfield's packaging.
Future impact: Reduce, reduce, reduce.
Freshfield will continue to work with rePurpose Global to reduce the future use of virgin plastics in our products and build a more circular business and delivery model for our company.
In partnership with Saahas Zero Waste we have diverted 11,517 kg of plastic waste from oceans and landfills, provided additional income to 80 waste workers and family members and avoided creating 3.1 tonnes of CO2e emissions.
